About Rio

Hello everyone! My name is Rio, and as you can tell from my photos, I just had my favorite afternoon mist bath! I absolutely love water and getting all fluffed up while singing my little heart out.

I am a 2-year-old Blue and Gold Macaw with a big heart and lots of love to give. My foster parents say I am one of the sweetest, gentlest giants they have ever fostered. I am 100% hand-tame and step up onto your fingers or arm immediately whenever you ask. My beak might look big, but I take treats from your fingers so softly, especially crunchy walnuts and fresh apple slices!

I love to chat and interact with people. I can already say "Hello Rio!", "Good morning!", and "Love you!", and I do the funniest happy laugh when you dance with me. When it is relaxation time, I will gently lean my head right into your chest for sweet neck and cheek scratches.

My previous family loved me dearly but had an unexpected family relocation overseas and could not take me along. They wanted to make sure I found a permanent, loving home through verified foster rescue.

I am in great health, fully banded, and ready to meet my forever family! Because my bird lungs are sensitive, my new home just needs to be non-smoking and free from scented candles or non-stick cookware.
