About Tennessee

Tennessee is a sweet, affectionate young pup who is so happy to have a safe place to call home. She has a medium energy level with bursts of puppy enthusiasm and loves playing with toys, spending time with her people, and hanging out with her dog friends. She’s intelligent, eager to learn, and has already shown that she can listen when redirected.

Tennessee is house-trained! Like many young dogs, she is still working on her manners and can be mouthy and energetic, but she responds well to a firm “no” and will benefit from continued positive training and consistency.

She gets along well with other dogs and would likely love having a young, playful canine companion to help keep her company and burn off some of that puppy energy. The rare time she barks is to try to encourage the older dogs to play with her. She currently sleeps peacefully on a dog bed alongside her foster dog siblings all night.

Tennessee is interested in cats and wants to play with them a little more enthusiastically than they would prefer! With her young age and trainability, she may be able to learn appropriate manners around cats, but a home with dog-savvy cats and a family committed to supervision and training would be best. She has not been tested with young children, so that would be something to consider carefully.

She is also a mouser! She is smart and very alert and has caught a vole and a mouse in the yard.

She is still learning that meals are going to keep coming, and she tends to gobble her food as though she might not get another chance. Slow feeding and consistency should help her learn that she is safe and cared for.

Tennessee doesn’t seem to be a flight risk and appears incredibly grateful to have a home and people who care for her. She’s a young dog with plenty to learn, but underneath that puppy energy is a loving, intelligent girl who is going to make someone an absolutely wonderful companion.

Tennessee would thrive with a family who is ready to give her the structure, training, patience, and love she needs to become her very best self.
